EMSYS Design LLC (“EMSYS,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides the Battery Maintenance iOS application and its connected Battery Portal services. This policy explains the information we collect, why we collect it, and how it is handled.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their advertising purposes.
Information we collect
When you use Battery Maintenance, we may collect:
- Account information: Your name, email address, username, and associated company, organization, or team.
- Maintenance records: Battery measurements, equipment identifiers, serial numbers, site details, inspection results, notes, report information, and related billing or payment-status information where applicable.
- Location information: With your permission, precise or approximate location, including coordinates, accuracy, and timestamps, recorded during battery testing and associated with the relevant maintenance record.
- Photos and scanned information: Inspection photos you capture or select, and information obtained when scanning battery-system codes or serial numbers.
- Device and diagnostic information: Device identifiers, device model, operating system and app versions, IP address, crash reports, error logs, performance information, and information about interactions within the app.
- Backup information: Copies of locally stored application records uploaded to support backup and recovery. Backups may occur automatically while you are signed in.
How we use information
We use this information to provide battery-testing functionality, connect to compatible testing equipment, create and maintain reports, associate measurements with their locations, synchronize and back up records, manage account access, provide support, and improve service reliability and security.
Location and permissions
Location collection operates while the relevant testing screen is active and the app is in the foreground. The app does not continuously collect your location in the background. Recorded locations may be stored with test records and transmitted through report uploads or backups.
You can allow or deny location access and change your permissions in iOS Settings. You can also disable Precise Location. Denying location access prevents the app from adding new device-location information to your tests. Changing a permission does not remove information already recorded or uploaded.
The app requests camera, photo-library, and Bluetooth access for the features that require them. You can manage these permissions in iOS Settings. Restricting a permission may make the corresponding feature unavailable.
Storage and sharing
Maintenance records are stored locally on your device and may be uploaded to our production service at batteryportal.io. Uploaded information may be accessible to authorized users of the organization or account associated with the records. Information you export or share is also available to the recipients you select.
Service providers and other disclosures
We use service providers to operate our services, including hosting, storage, and diagnostic services. The app uses Sentry to help identify crashes, errors, and performance problems. Diagnostic reports may include screenshots of the app and information describing its interface, which can contain information displayed on the screen at the time of an error. Service providers must protect personal information consistently with this policy and applicable requirements.
We may also disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect the security of our services, investigate misuse, or protect legal rights. Information may be processed in countries other than the country where you live.
Retention
Uploaded reports are retained indefinitely as a historical record of battery testing and maintenance. We do not automatically delete reports after a fixed period. Associated information recorded with those reports, including measurements, notes, recorded locations, and inspection photos, forms part of that history. Backups and diagnostic information may have separate retention arrangements.
Uninstalling the app or signing out does not delete records already uploaded to our services. Our retention practices remain subject to applicable legal requirements and privacy rights.
Privacy requests
You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or to ask how your information is used. We may need to verify your identity and coordinate with your organization before responding. Requests are handled according to applicable law, including any obligations that require us to retain particular records.
Security
We use safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. Connections to the production Battery Portal use HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission can guarantee absolute security.
Children
Battery Maintenance is intended for business and professional use and is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the service, please contact us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services or practices change. We will publish the updated policy with a revised date and provide additional notice where required.
